The Programme is committed to providing students with a thorough training in Chinese language, literature, and culture. The acquisition of knowledge and skills of basic research and training in critical thinking enable students to achieve their academic goals, personal growth, and their commitment to lifelong learning and preparation for future careers. This serves the University’s common goal of “Whole Person Education”, and empowers students to contribute to both the local and international communities.

Student Learning Experiences
In order to provide a wider scope of learning opportunities for students to develop their multi-perspective learning, the Department has been active in organizing a large variety, some in series, of seminars and international conferences on inter-disciplinary studies. Students of the Department will have the opportunity to take part in the Student Exchange Programme to experience studying abroad and broaden their horizons. Additionally, our Internship Programme includes learning programmes which are carried out in summer breaks at participating publishers, radio stations and secondary schools. The programme offers an opportunity for students to gain work experience.

Remarks
Students may have the option of taking an integrated programme by extending their undergraduate study by one year, leading to the award of a bachelor's degree in that Major plus a Diploma in Education.

We adopt a holistic approach in selecting applicants on individual merits. Applicants are required to meet the University entrance requirements, English Language requirements and Programme entrance requirements (if any).
Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Students/ Holders
AD/ HD holders or students studying in the final year of AD /HD programmes may apply for Year 3 entry.
Transfer Students
Transfer students are current students of recognised local/ overseas institutions who are enrolled in a full-time or sandwich government-funded or self-financed degree programme.
Applicants who have completed at least one year of study of a 3-year degree programme or two years of study of a 4-year degree programme may apply for Year 3 entry.
Inter-institutional transfer of students is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Degree Holders
Holders of Bachelor’s/ Master’s/ Doctoral Degree or students studying in the final year of a degree programme may apply for Year 3 entry.
Applicants are required to submit their writing samples. These samples may be 1-3 published/not yet published creative writing articles and/or previous assignments. The total word limit is 3,000 Chinese characters. If there are no writing samples received on or before the deadline, the application will not be considered.
Applicants applying to the programme are expected to have a Chinese language qualification as deemed acceptable by the University.
For applicants holding international qualifications, they may fulfill the Chinese Language requirement with the following Chinese qualifications:
