The Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Programme (Applied Economics Concentration) offers knowledge for economic reasoning and data analytics – a powerful combination that meets the employers’ demand nowadays. The program offers a variety of economics courses that allow students to apply economic theories in analyzing individual markets, macroeconomies, international economies, games and strategies, public policies, and digital markets. It also prepares students for developing careers in the field of data analytics by providing them with skills associated with quantitative and statistical analysis, big data analytics, programming, data gathering and machine learning. Students can customize their learning experiences to fit their preferences and career aspirations.

Unique Features

  • Combine economic thinking with data analytics to equip graduates with knowledge that are crucial for their career developments.
  • Provide vigorous training in data analytical techniques to facilitate economic application of economic thinking and analysis to business decision making, public policies, and practical issues.
  • Provide frontier economic knowledge that applies to dynamic markets and digital economies.
  • Ample opportunities for students to equip themselves with up-to-date market developments and technical skills, such as seminars offered by industry leaders, regulatory bodies and government officials, workshops focusing on uses of updated software, database application and programming skills.

Students can pursue additional graduation options including Double Concentration within BBA, or a Minor in non-business discipline.

Student Learning Experiences

All BBA students are required to complete at least 120 hours of experiential learning activities (exchange/internship/service learning) before graduation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can develop a wide range of career options in business and government sectors. On top of the likely employment for BBA graduates in management, marketing, accounting and banking, many advanced career opportunities in financial and commercial sectors, such as research analysts, business consultants, asset management, credit analyst, risk management, treasury, and compliance, require specifically a degree in economics or other relevant disciplines in finance, law and science. These jobs usually require both technical and broad-based knowledge that the Applied Economics degree offers.

Some of our graduates have also pursued their careers as research analysts in business strategy development, corporate finance executives, analysts for consulting firms, government and public utilities, as well as teachers of economics or liberal studies. Our training also paves way to graduate studies, which are commonly required for further career advancement.
