The Film and Television Concentration provides broad training in film and television, with attention to relevant areas of theory, history, and practice.

Student Learning Experiences

Film and Animation Festival Tours
The Academy of Film organizes a series of Film and Animation Festival Tours to enhance students’ competitive edge and their international/ global exposure such as Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival (Barcelona, Spain), Busan International Film Festival (Korea), Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (Toronto), Far East Film Festival (Udine, Italy), Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (Korea) etc.

Internship
Students are encouraged to undertake a non-graded and zero-unit professional internship during their study. The company such as TVB, Cable TV, RTHK, animation & visual effect studio, corporate communication division, graphic design house, advertising agency, production house etc. will provide internship opportunities (subject to availability) to students.

 

Career Opportunities

Career prospects for graduates include creative content industries, such as network TV, film, broadcasting, cable TV, multimedia, animation, online and interactive application development, visual and creative communication, and other sectors involved in the use of electronic image-sound media, such as public relations and advertising, IT education, publishing, corporate communication, arts and media administration and management.

 

Remarks

1)# As the 2019/20 Academic Year is the start of the 2019-2022 triennium for which UGC-funded programmes are still subject to the Government's and the Legislative Council's approval, the number of student intake places shown in this web page is indicative only and subject to change or confirmation at a later date.
 

2) Film and Television Concentration will not join broad-based admission. It will adopt programme-based admission starting from 2019 entry.

We adopt a holistic approach in selecting applicants on individual merits. Applicants are required to meet the University entrance requirements, English Language requirements and Programme entrance requirements (if any).

 

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Final Year Students/ Holders

AD/ HD holders or final year students may apply for Year 1 or Year 3 entry.

 

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Non-final Year Students

Non-final year students studying AD/ HD programmes at a higher education institution recognised by the University are eligible to apply for Year 1 entry only. These applicants are required to fulfill the Entrance Requirements for HKDSE or equivalent qualifications.

 

Transfer Students

Transfer students are current students enrolled in a full-time or sandwich government-funded or self-financed degree programme at a recognised institution.

Applicants who have completed at least one year of study of a degree programme may apply for Year 1 entry. They should fulfil the University and the Programme Entrance Requirements.

Inter-institutional transfer of students enrolled in a local government-funded programme is considered on a case-by-case basis.

 

Degree Holders

Holders of Bachelor’s/ Master’s/ Doctoral Degree or students studying in the final year of a degree programme may apply for Year 1 or Year 3 entry.

Applicants are required to present their portfolios during the interview. They do not need to submit their portfolios before/ after the interview.

Applicants should prepare their porfolios in digital format for the ease of presentation. Portfolios should demonstrate the applicant's potential in creativity, visual and design literacy, animation and/ or game design.
