Programme Description
The BA (Hons) in English Language & Literature and BEd(Hons) in English Language Teaching is a five-year full-time programme leading to two degree awards. It is offered jointly by the Department of English Language & Literature and the Department of Education Studies. It provides thorough preparation in two distinct disciplines: English Language & Literature and Education Studies.
Unique Features
Students who successfully complete the programme will hold a recognised teaching qualification that meets the Government’s requirements for professional English language teachers.
Student Learning Experiences
During the flow of their studies, students will undertake periods of school experience and teaching practice. In the summer preceding Year 3 they will embark on an overseas immersion programme, designed to enhance and expand their learning in an intensely English-speaking environment, for 6-8 weeks.
Career Opportunities
The BA (Hons) English and BEd (Hons) programme prepares graduates for teaching and teaching-related careers. Graduates are equipped with a range of skills that enable them to contribute effectively and flexibly to the changing needs of Hong Kong in the 21st century.
