The programme encompasses pharmaceutical science of Chinese Materia Medica, basic theories of Chinese Medicine, basic sciences, Western pharmacy and practicum training. During the four-year of studies, students are required to complete a 15-week practicum, and in the final year, students are required to carry out an Honours Project before graduation. Throughout the programme, research concepts and tools are emphasized, and the concept of "Whole Person Education" is also stressed by providing a student-oriented, adaptive and holistic education in the General Education Programme.
Student Learning Experiences
Students will have opportunities to broaden their knowledge by attending practicum sessions as early as in the Year One of studies. After completion of the first year of study, students are required to attend a 2-week practicum in the area of Medicinal Botany. During the summer break after the third year and in the fourth year of studies, practicum will take place in either a pharmaceutical plant or a herbarium in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shaoguan and Guangzhou.
Career Opportunities
Career opportunities of the BPharm graduates include quality control and manufacturing, business management, new product development and commercial sector of Chinese medicines. Graduates may also continue their studies by applying for research on Chinese medicines at postgraduate level.

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Final Year Students/ Holders
AD/ HD holders or final year students may apply for Year 1 entry.
Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Non-final Year Students
Non-final year students studying AD/ HD programmes at a higher education institution recognised by the University are eligible to apply for Year 1 entry. These applicants are required to fulfill the Entrance Requirements for HKDSE or equivalent qualifications.
Transfer Students
Transfer students are current students enrolled in a full-time or sandwich government-funded or self-financed degree programme at a recognised institution.
Applicants who have completed at least one year of study of a degree programme may apply for Year 1 entry. They should fulfil the University and the Programme Entrance Requirements.
Inter-institutional transfer of students enrolled in a local government-funded programme is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Degree Holders
Holders of Bachelor’s/ Master’s/ Doctoral Degree or students studying in the final year of a degree programme may apply for Year 1 entry.
