Programme Description
Each of the three double degrees is a five-year full-time programme leading to two degree awards. Each programme is jointly offered by the Department of Education Studies, with one of the Departments of Geography, History or Sociology, and prepares students in two distinct disciplines. Students who successfully complete the programme will hold a recognised teaching qualification for schools in Hong Kong.
The aims and learning outcomes of the Geography, History or Sociology components are the same as those for the respective single degrees. Please refer to the three Departments' websites for details.
For the education component, students will develop personal and professional qualities that enable them to function effectively within the teaching profession in Hong Kong. They will master important theoretical and practical knowledge of educational practices, and be able to teach the subject of Liberal Studies effectively. An essential element of the education component is the Field Practice. A satisfactory completion of the Field Practice is a requirement for graduation. Students will be visited and assessed by supervisors of the Department of Education Studies during this stage of the programme.
In addition to two academic disciplines, students will also be exposed to knowledge and skills of many other fields through the General Education and Electives components of the programmes. The University also provides ample opportunity for local and foreign internships, study tours and overseas exchanges.
Career Opportunities
The double degrees will prepare students to enter a wide variety of careers. Other than joining the teaching profession, students can also embark on a career in the civil service, the business sector, or other civil society organizations. The programmes will provide students with flexibility that is increasingly valued in a fast-changing, globally-oriented city.

We adopt a holistic approach in selecting applicants on individual merits. Applicants are required to meet the University entrance requirements, English Language requirements and Programme entrance requirements (if any).
Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Final Year Students/ Holders
AD/ HD holders or final year students may apply for Year 1 entry.
Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Non-final Year Students
Non-final year students studying AD/ HD programmes at a higher education institution recognised by the University are eligible to apply for Year 1 entry. These applicants are required to fulfill the Entrance Requirements for HKDSE or equivalent qualifications.
Transfer Students
Transfer students are current students enrolled in a full-time or sandwich government-funded or self-financed degree programme at a recognised institution.
Applicants who have completed at least one year of study of a degree programme may apply for Year 1 entry. They should fulfil the University and the Programme Entrance Requirements.
Inter-institutional transfer of students enrolled in a local government-funded programme is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Degree Holders
Holders of Bachelor’s/ Master’s/ Doctoral Degree or students studying in the final year of a degree programme may apply for Year 1 entry.

The following public examination results are recognised as meeting the English Language requirements stipulated by the University:
